In 2001 Jake Hartman invited Adriane Colburn and myself to put together a show for the loft/gallery he was running called Radical Space. For this show we held a juried watercolor contest. We set up two divergent yet related still-life scenarios, supplied water colors, brushes, and paper, and sold hot dogs for a quarter. After two hours of creative activities the paintings were judged by Kevin Bean and Lydia Mathews.

Making watercolors has a similar effect on the brain as going on a long walk or swimming in a lake.
